For those who didn’t follow the story, a German man was arrested and tried for killing and eating a willing victim some time ago. Now a German court has banned a movie based on his story: “The court ruled that Meiwes’ rights as an individual outweighed artistic freedom and that he should not become the object of a horror film.” Um … the man killed and ate someone, and videotaped it (this is not in dispute). I’ve got news - he’s already the star of a horror movie, and he directed it himself. ::: Cannibal film banned in Germany Filed under: Movie News and Movie News: Germany Comments: None |

Fans of horror and silent film are in for a real treat this Wednesday. For Halloween night, The Devil Music Ensemble will be playing their original score live during a screening of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu. If you have never experienced a silent film with live musical accompaniment, something every film fan should try at least once, this is an excellent opportunity (I heartily recommend any performance by The Alloy Orchestra as well - seeing Metropolis with their live accompaniment was like watching the film for the first time). More information, and an opportunity to sample the music via the group’s website, available below.
