The actor was found dead in his New York apartment earlier today. Aside from the human impact, the last few years have demonstrated that this is a genuine misfortune for cinema. Since 2005, Ledger has transitioned from being a typecast pretty face in junk like A Knight’s Tale and The Patriot to turning in a first, great performance in Brokeback Mountain and what has potential to be another in Christopher Nolan’s second re-imagining of the Batman series, The Dark Knight. A shame.
